Sandisk to produce "write once" flash

Towards the bottom of the article there's a mention of cheap, write-
once memory which is intended to be used for archival purposes. I
wonder if the capacity will be greater than today's typical CF
cards... will they be a potential alternative to burning DVDs and HD
backups?

There is already "write-once" technology available.  It's called film.
