I have a lot of pictures on my PC and have started making DVD
Slideshows, I would like know what programs other people are using and
any Good/Bad things about the programs.

Im currently using Nerovision Express, which is easy to use and has
great special effect’s, the only Bad thing is Nero has a 99pic limit
per slideshow.

Thanks for any help

While looking at the link posted last week for the MS Photo Info I
decided to have a look around the MS site and go to their software
download page.

I downloaded a program called Photo Story, it makes a slide show where
you can add music or you talking.  Not sure the limits of it, I put a
couple of pics in it and it looked alright.  Will play with it a bit
more this week.

Photo Story 3 from Microsoft is limited to 300 images and it will not burn
to DVD without purchasing a "Plugin" from Roxio. Even then, it is a pain in
the posterior to get it to work with any degree of sophistication.

ProShow even Gold version is in my opinion total crap but it is used by many
wedding photographers to cobble together a passable presentation without any
monster learning curve.

The real trick in producing slide shows is to entertain your audience. I use
a Panasonic FZ50 to take 1 minute movie segments which I use in my "Wedding
Story" DVDs between the stills. The Pinnacle software I
use(http://www.pinnaclesys.com)  is worth major money and probably wouldn't
suit a newcomer although they do sell a "home version" for under $200 that
may be OK. I'd be peeved it was after what I paid for the pro gear!

Give MS Photostory3 a go (it's free) but you really will have to buy the DVD
burning plugin ($50) to make a PAL DVD to play back on a household DVD
player... I'll save you some money right here and tell you never use DVD -R
discs to record your compilation or you'll get jerky playback.

Lastly... PhotoStory3 is a low quality product which produces low quality
output and there is absolutely nothing you can do to improve the on-screen
quality. It might suit you just the same, you didn't say what purpose you
have in making DVDs.
