I have been using my Optio WP for over 12 months and it has suddenly decided
not to go to camera mode when first turned on.  It will simply show the
start-up screen and then shut down.  There is no problem with the battery.
The USB works okay with the alibility to see photos on the card. I have been
able to access the play back mode by holding the play button down while
powering up.  I have formatted the card and reinstalled the firmware without
any susses in solving this annoying problem.

If anyone has any advice, please post.

Thanks,
David.

It is stuffed. Usually it means that the lens barrel will not set up.
Playback functions work because the lens barrel is not involved. Time
for a new camera.

going on history here.... but the film version (90wr) tended to have a
problem with the lens barrels O-ring. When not used for a long time, it
had reduced flexibiltiy and would stop the camera from extending the
zoom and starting up. was common at one point with new cameras which had
not been used.

I think the WR does not extend it's lens and is behind a fixed
housing/filter.... internally maybe a similar problem perhaps?
