Guys i have a 30D & a 430 speedlite. I wish to buy a bracket to get the
flash away from the camera (but not remote). Ive searched high & low in
australia on the net & local shops & we seem to have a lack of them here
other than the stuff on eBay. Local shops just put that 'not this question'
face on even if i ask to see a catalog so i can order one.

Has anyone got a model that they can recommend ?

Hi Boris,

I got a Quantum QF70US a few weeks back

like this one: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/images/largeimages/314506.jpg

It's VERY light, strong and configurable. The Aussie version does'nt have
quite the same foam ribbing as this picture (the US version) but is the same
otherwise.

The top section can be loosened to rotate 360 deg. and be raised or lowered.
The top arm also rotates 180 deg (to extend inwards or outwards)

The foam handle is a god send for me esp. for carrying camera, heavy glass
and flash in your hand for extended periods of time.

I think it was about AUD $280 locally here in Sydney (I know dam $$$$) but
it was that or my wrists ...

WTF are you talking about?

This is not a site - it is UseNet.

Michael's in Melbourne had a few different ones when I wanted to buy one
so I could use an external flash comfortably with a Kodak DX6490.

I don't know if Michaels have them, but when I was searching for them on
adorama.com I came across some very fancy ones that had hinges so you
could quickly switch between landscape and portrait orientation and
still make the flash point up if doing vertical bounce.

It should be relatively easy (and cheap?) to make your own, with a strip
of aluminium and a small hotshoe attached to the end, so the distance to
the flash is up to you.

So many places hire dumb staff. If they saw it hanging on the wall they
wouldn't know what to call it.
