Recently did a trip round the Flinders from Robe which we did on the
Melb cup weekend...

Took 500 odd photos with sons camera, as well as the ones I took with
the 300D. but when we got home and went to download them the card only
showed ~20 photos... nothing we did would read it.

No idea if it was faulty card (SANDISK SD CARD), or camera (12mth old
Samsung A400) I dont think the photos were deleted, as the card had
photo #'s 10 - 20 and 32 - 40..

Googled, and found this www.ultimateimagerecovery.com/

10 mins later I had 498 photos on my computer - with a water mark on
them which it does until you pay.

$40 it was worth it for the photos it restored - first bit of s/ware
I've bought in years, but for what it saved me, fuckin worth it..

Just something to keep in the back of ya mind.

I have a copy of LexarMedia Image Rescue 2 which does a pretty good job
too! I ran it on a 256mb SD card that I was selling with a P&S camera
recently, & it recovered pics that were taken last year!

So does this mean that you accepted the first bit of recovery software
which you found?

There are heaps of FREE software packages out there , that do the same
thing.

DIR by http://www.foto-erhardt.de/ which I have used for some time.
San Disk give one away free with there cards.
etc,

Others will also add to this list.

Tried 3 "FREE" ones before payin, none of them worked.. Why do you
think I paid once I found one that worked?

Which, three, free packages did you try?

Did you ask if there was any free software which would do the job?

Did you look up the archives of this newsgroup where its been asked before?

There have been five recommendations, so far, of free software that do
the same thing.

What you have done it appears, is to promote (spam) this software
package - what interest do you have in flogging this package.

Didnt know I had to.

yes, and some photography forums... where do you think I found the
names of the programs? Im really not dealing with Einstein here am
I...

Well done, give yourself a lollypop. But then again, put it back,
since none of them worked, and go stand in the corner with the dunce
hat on.

I know who is doing the flogging.. Humbly apologise for not being as
f.cking brilliant as you think you are.
It was the only program that worked for me,, so thought it was worth
mentioning.

I only mentioned it incase someone else has the same issue I had with
the card and didnt want to lose their photos.

if you dont like something, dont read it, or is that beyond your
intelligence?

Funnily, and I did wait until someone else said it, but it did look like you
might be spamming us with this software without providing the other programs
you tried that didn't work.  Your initial message was not a balanced
unbiased one it appears.

I had something very similar happen. With the advice of those here I found &
downloaded "Digital Image Recovery" for free. Worked perfectly and I saved
$40.
