Heard the Pentax Digital SLR K10D is due into CRK on the 24th and will
be in the shops within the week after that.

This camera is also branded Samsung. So check the price on that as well.

Hey Rob,

Have mine ordered already through Fletchers/Digital City here in Canberra.
Was quoted $1359 for the body, $1599 with Sigma 18-125mm (not really needed
but an okay lens that I can use when I want minimal gear), depends what they
can get in.

Is of no help to me, I want extended warranty, want to be able to walk back
in the shop for any problem, etc, price differential is trivial compared to
the service I get including special prices on large prints on their Frontier
machine.

Point of clarification for anyone reading or Googling in future; DCW
CAN arrange extended warranty
(http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/category163_1.htm), and I
imagine you meant that you wouldn't be able to "walk back into the
shop" because you're in the ACT while DCW's in Sydney. There's no
INTRINSIC problem going to see DCW if you have a problem with
something that you buy from them, as my own experience attests. The
location is right there on the web page.

I just wanted to ensure that there was no misunderstanding because in
my experience DCW are good peoples, and I didn't want anyone getting
the wrong idea. It's just a pity that they don't sell Canon DSLR gear
is all... 8^>

Cool, but still no good for me. I like supporting local. Isn't it funny how
some shops don't have certain gear. My local shop have them all, well maybe
not the Hassy's and Mamiya backs. ;-)

Just curious why Fletchers are pushing Sigma lenses attached to the
camera body, (CRK are the Sigma agents) and not the Pentax lenses, seems
to me a conflict of interest.

CR Kennedy is the agent for Pentax and Sigma, Fletchers are not pushing
Sigma lenses. I already have the Pentax lenses that may be on offer so I
have ordered a body only but it is possible body only will not be available
with the first shipment so I may have to got with one of the lens choices,
one of those may be the Sigma 18-125mm, that is all.

I am getting a body only in the first shipment but the Camerahouse owner
is buying a kit and keeping the lens to sell individually

Sounds good, what lens do you have to put on the new camera? My main lens
will be the Pentax 16-45mm F4 ED AL, this camera deserves the best glass you
can throw at it.

From what I have seen the Samsung branded cameras have been more expensive
than the Pentaxes, probably been a priving thing forced on them but they
probably sell them in Korea for peanuts.
