Finally found one place listing it...

http://shop.centre.net.au/index.html?&cat=000004&redir=shop.centre.net.au&rid=00
0004&it=product&prid=001CDF

It's listed as a $1875.00 preorder, but still no mention of WHEN it
will be available. :( They do grey imports so the price from "standard"
dealers may be higher.

Now I can actually see pricing I have to decide whether 3 stop nextgen
image stabilisation is worth an $876 premium over the non-IS f4L ($999
at centre.net.au). I wonder if there are any improvements to the
optics.

BTW, I could have used this lens yesterday when I was king of the world
on top of a local hill. The longest one I have currently is a mere
50mm. LOL

My tip is to buy a good tripod and flash instead.

You can't use a tripod and a flash in street photography.
The 70-200/4 IS is perfect for that.

I used a 100-400 IS and found the IS very usefull, and
the lens really good.

I'll probably buy the 70-200/4L IS USM but when the price
will be cheaper.

The price will surely drop some months after his release.

Of course you can, or a monopod.

Not sure what street photo's you are taking if you need a 70-200, but
whatever suits YOUR requirements is obviosly a good choice.

Sure, but the best lens choice will ALWAYS depend on YOUR requirements.
*I* find a faster lens more useful far more often for MY requirements.
I'm always amazed how many people think an IS lens will be a big help with
moving subjects.

I seriously doubt it, if the past is any indication.
But I'll stick with a 70-200 f2.8 anyway.

You realise you are talking to Daniel who's take on street photography
is to take photos of posters and call them his.
with his 70-200 he can take photos of billboards without a problem.
