With Panasonic releasing the DFC-FZ50 will the FZ30 go to the great
photo kennel in the sky just like FZ20 or will it sit between FZ7 and
FZ50.

Agree, Father in Law got one, did not bother to ask my advice, tried it and
it takes a reasonable shot at the basic settings but not otherwise and the
EVF is absolutely disgusting.

I've whinged about it here before, so I'll keep quiet now, except to say
that it looked great on paper but disappointed hugely in the hand.

With the price of dSLRS so cheap, why would you bother?

For many there is plenty to be attracted to, all in one, IS, 10 times zoom,
reasonable at lowest ISO, cheaper than the cheapest D-SLR.

I noticed the Olympus E300 single lens kit being sold in Perth for $650.
And J&B have the Ist DL with an 18-50 for $675 in their latest catalogue.

Prices like those make all-in-one cameras seem bad value

They are still very convenient and good enough quality for many users and
they do have IS and 10x zoom, many people will only print at 6x4 and will
never show up the short comings of the camera.
