I am not saying it is great but I like it.

I was driving home from work on Tuesday and noticed the light on the
water, I had my camera on the seat so I stopped and took a few.

I took 20 for this pano, no tripod.

I like the effect of the light.
Where is it?
Which stitching program did you use? Mine (Canon Photostitch) seems to get
dark vertical sections at the joins. Easy to get rid of or just
different/better software?

try autostitch, it handles that edge banding really well.

for a giggle once I pointed it at a random folder filled with all sorts of
unfiled images, much to my surprise it popped up with a pic of my wife! a
pano of the backyard with her in the middle.

I had a look at all the files and sure enough, there were two pics of the
backyard - nothing else *could* have been stitched but it found those two
images and stuck them together ;)

Thanks Gerrit

It is take on the eastern side of Lake Macquarie just south of Newcastle

I use Autopano pro for my stitching, the guy that sent the link to the
pano of sydney had a link to it on his page.

Very good program and you can get an unlicenced version but it puts
logo's but still fun to play with

Nice photo!

I took this one last year at Belmont South (in the park just south of cold
tea creek). I was driving home after visiting relatives in Newcastle when we
saw the sunset. By the time I'd parked the car and got the camera out of the
boot, the sun had set.

I didn't have my tripod, it was hand-held in low light - so it isn't the
best photo. Still, better than no photo!

Thanks Matt

The pano posted was from the same park. I think the tree on the left is
the one in your pic.

I noticed a few of Redhead beach, this is a morning one looking toward
redhead

Maybe that's true, but why not simply post a different one, where you did
have your tripod and better timing, instead?
I can't see much point in posting pictures you have to apologise for
myself*, but I guess you have a reason?
(Actually I can, unique subjects of high interest that cannot be repeated.
Hardly applies in this case though)

Hey Mr T

I think it was more of a case of showing me he had taken a sunset pic
from the same spot as me

Oh, OK I apologise if I missed that.

Nice subtle tones, but I find the strangely diverging shorelines a bit
distracting.

It's excellent but a pity you didn't capture the shoreline.
Great Pano.

Nice shot Tems :-)
I might post one of mine here for some critique
remembering I have a point and shooter type camera, a HP R607, but hey I
does the job until I can get something a bit more feature rich :-)

You could also take photo's of someone elses photo and post it as yours.

You can get away with it because you actually pressed the button on the
camera so it is your pic

I thought about doing that but then I remembered that I have ethical issues
with doing that, as you can tell, I'm not a real estate agent because, not
only can I spell "ethics" I understand and abide by them :-)

Thanks everyone and I would have taken the shore but as I said  I wasn't
really planning on doing anything special with the pic, I just thought
it would be a good chance to experiment.

Will do another this week a bit earlier to get more sunset light
