I looked at importing them.... unfortunately they would contravene
safety standards for beanbags, as they are held in by velco... you need
a child proofe zipper to distribute them to avoid choking hazaards.
I got a sample however... that I don't use.... offers?

What was your opinion of the pod (what size) - is there a cheaper
alternative?

if you don't need the tripod thread there is always an alternative -

My cuz came from Canada last month and I got her to get me one. I found it
not suitable for SLRs /DSLRs as it does not protect or stabilise the long
lens (also out of balance). Ok for compacts though.
So i got myself a campod @ www.cam-pod.com after hearing about it on
dpreview and sydney morning herald icon. Got it delivererd in two days and
very happy with it. It supports my camera/lens much better than thepod and
its Australian made. also use it to protect my equipment in camera bag.
Thepods tripod thread can cause scratches of equip in camera bag if not
careful.

Thanks for the input Jack.
I think I'll grab the Cam-pod too to see how they differ.
I need the ThePod because sometimes when I travel light , I want it to be
really light without missing on some low light shots :)
350D or D50 with kit lens should be quite nice for this pod I think.

How about a heat bag from a local craft market, chemist or Grandma. They are full of chick peas or
similar and designed for microwaving and applying to sore muscles. They work just as well used as a
camera support.

That's what I use.

If you go the longer one it will support an SLR with small tele lens also.
