I have a 17" CRT & am buying another computer to sit next to my old one. I
want to buy a 19" or 20" flat for around the $800 mark. My searches turned
up Viewsonic VP191B as a good one for photo editing but will look at any
suggestions. Im in Brissy.
Thanks

Although I don't like to admit this I use a Dell 19" ultra sharp 1905.
Good viewing angles. "Tube" made by Samsung.
make sure you have a good viewing angle so there is no graduation in the
screen.
have a look at a Samsung as they have zero pixel warranty. Don't be
misled by the refresh rate as 18m/s is still very satisfactory.

Probably a little more than $800.00 though.

Thanks...i have been out looking at LCD's & to tell you the truth when you
look at them beside a good laptop (like a high end toshiba) the LCD screens
look quite ordinary. Is this correct or is it my failing eye sight & old age
?
I do love my CRT but its just too big to fit in the only spot i can put the
new one.

I have a "high end" toshiba - I don't think I'd call it a "good laptop".

about any laptop....not my idea of what i need. I was using it as a reconer
against the LCD's on display around it.

If you're using the new computer for photo editing,
you could use your old CRT on it and buy an LCD
for the old computer. According to this manufacturer
of both LCD and CRT monitors, CRTs are still better
for photo editing --
http://www.viewsonic.com/monitoruniversity/lcdvcrt.htm
" CRTs can provide richer color in a fuller spectrum than most LCDs. In
general, graphic artists prefer CRT monitors because they show truer colors
and greater nuance-particularly useful for preparing files for printing and
for using photo applications such as Adobe® Photoshop®."
