Hi All,

HP made a fair few announcements at PMA, including three printers and
lots of interesting papers:

The hp 130gp looks decidedly ho hum ... a 2 year old printer with some new
toys in the box? 6 diferent colors, still only one black.  How will it go
with neutral gradations, black and white prints?  The new addition to the
package is a GretagMacbeth Eye-One Display (Display 2?) which is nice, but
having accurate pics on the screen is only one half of the problem.

The Hahnemuhle papers are really nice, have used the 308gsm Photo-Rag on the
Epson large format printers, the hp Hahnemuhle smooth fine art paper appears
to be a lighter version of this at 265gsm.  Their watercolor paper is
probably Albrecht Durer, a 50% rag, mould made watercolor paper at 210gsm.
Not so sure about the CD labels, I think the inkjet printable media is a
more convenient option.  I /guess/ the labels may have a nicer finish.  I'd
prefer canvas on rolls to the 13x19" sheets hp have announced.  If you allow
for ~3 inches per side for wrapping around a frame a 13x19" ends up with a
finished product with a face of  7x13" ... Foolscap?

Yes, the Hahnemuhle papers are lovely, I've used them in a number of
printers.

Agree re canvas. You really do need a larger size to stretch them
properly, even for quite small prints.

Cheers,

Wayne
