A Dynax 7 versus Fuji F11 decision

Hi,

I'm in the process of making a purchase decision and would like to seek
some opinions to take with me.

I already have a film SLR. Lately, I have seen the Dynax 7 (not D)
going on eBay for about $400. It's always been a dream to own that
camera (just for that ability to wind the film to any frame alone is
draw enough) so this would be a good chance to do it.

If I did that, I would want to take a couple of Provia 400F (along with
Prova 100F) on trips and push it when necessary. Though I could easily
do a mid-roll change with my film body, the lack of IR sprocket counter
means I have to skip a frame each time I reload (which isn't nice).

Then, I discoverd the Fujifilm F11 and the wonders of it's low-light
capabilities. It is about $100++ more.

Do you think the $400 will be better spent on the F11? Of course, we
are discounting a PSD, etc. I guess I can consider those costs
separately as I'll need them anway for my wife's digicam.

What do you think?

Cheers!
Matt

Considering Konica Minolta announced they are getting out of the camera
business I don't think any product from them would be a good investment
at this point.

Perhaps he intends to use the camera, not to "invest" in it.
Not everyone is a Leciaphile buying cameras to lock away in bank vaults.

The high ISO capabulity of modern film will be better than that of a
Fuji F11, I have a Fuji F610, (same res/ lens, just more noise) and it
suffers frim lack of use due to purchare of a film SLR. If you haven't
already got a Digi P&S get somthing cheaper, they are not seroiuse
cameras.

Have to disagree.  The DSLR level (Fuji S2 in my case) is *much*
better than film at high ISO (like 1600), and even more better in
tungsten light.

The Fuji F11 (I have one, but relatively new) is not as good as the S2
of course, but it's pretty darned good in low tungsten light;
certainly better than I ever did with film, at least in color.  (And
I've made a specialty of low-light photography for 30 years or so.)

But the The Fuji F11 isn't a DSLR, it is a compact, with a very small
sensor and all the noise and res problems small sensors have.

Well, it has a bigger sensor than almost any other compact, and has
much more usable high ISOs than almost any other compact.
