Liar! If this were true, you couldn't have shot this picture, and you
wouldn't be posting about using film to archive your shots.

Film rules.

Nice portrait, by the way.

Aw, you're just saying that cause you're Totally Analog!

Actually, I was happy with the way the Astia scans turned out (at least
the ones I've done so far). I was less happy with the amount of time
and work needed to get them to look decent.  I don't how you darkroom
guys do it.

It's a labour of love.

Actually, I am not. Last rental item was a Contax 645 with a PhaseOne
back. Of course, I cannot justify buying such a set-up, so I rent whenever
a client wants something like that.

Problems with the lab, or lack of a good lab close to you?

> I don't how you darkroom

I have been doing what you guys like to call "digital darkroom" since late
1994. I can state without any doubt that I know far more about that than
the vast majority of people on this newsgroup. In fact, I don't even have
a chemical darkroom. The majority of my images are scanned then
commercially printed. My fine art images are chemical printed, but by a
lab using a high level scanning set-up.

No, the lab I use is great .... two hour service.
The time-consuming part is scanning the slides with my 5400.

Unfortunately true. One would need to spend quite a bit to get speed and very
high quality scans.

I added a few of my slide shots to my soccer gallery at:

I may even shoot a couple of rolls at this weekend's air show featuring
the Blue Angels and the F-104 Starfighter.

Hmmmm, maybe so ..... let me check the EXIF data.
Oh sh.t, it's gone!

Oh well, better under than over with slide film I suppose.

The histogram is fine for the white shirt, a crooked curve in PS could
lighten the face & background though & maybe even  darken the deepest
shadows a tad.

Is this one digital?

In the film one, you can't tell his tie is blue.

If you have some comments then make them here or in e-mail.  I'm sure
the Chambliss family has no interest in your rantings.

>I'm sure the Chambliss family has no interest in your rantings.

In that case you should make the gallery private and give them a password
for it, why make it public, point it out on a newsgroup and invite comments?

Nah, I like to keep it simple.  Besides, if I did that you couldn't
spend hours enjoying my pics and in no time you'd be back to take those
dreadful self-portraits of yours.

Really, and I just thought you were constantly seeking the approval of
others.

It could also be well exposed and badly scanned ...
