It's a labour of love.

Actually, I am not. Last rental item was a Contax 645 with a PhaseOne
back. Of course, I cannot justify buying such a set-up, so I rent whenever
a client wants something like that.

Problems with the lab, or lack of a good lab close to you?

I have been doing what you guys like to call "digital darkroom" since late
1994. I can state without any doubt that I know far more about that than
the vast majority of people on this newsgroup. In fact, I don't even have
a chemical darkroom. The majority of my images are scanned then
commercially printed. My fine art images are chemical printed, but by a
lab using a high level scanning set-up.

No, the lab I use is great .... two hour service.
The time-consuming part is scanning the slides with my 5400.

Unfortunately true. One would need to spend quite a bit to get speed and very
high quality scans.
