Hi,
I bought an original black Hexae AF on ebay. It looks pristine, accept
the original lens cap has been broken and superglued....I don't mind
this....but I'm afraid the camera may have been dropped. On close
examination....there is a tint hairline on the front face just at the
edge of the dark window near the logo.......Is this just the
construction, i.e. normal....it's hard to tell........also, there uis
no visible damage to the lens barrel.....but it is much noisier than I
expected, as though there was too much play in it?
Am I being prudent , or paranoid......The camera seems great in every
other way.....it's just that I recently got stitched up.....and don't
want a repeat performance.
Thanks for all advice...................

don't have one in front of me to confirm but it's been reputed to be
built like a tank:

you mean AF is noisy ? Did you put it in silent mode ?
By default when you switch it on, it's in normal AF so you can hear it
(not too loud tho). It should not be louder than a SLR doing AF. As the
normal AF is very fast (unless it's hunting), it doesn't last long anyway.

To get into silent mode, hold down the MF button and switch it on (from
OFF to any of P, A or M) until you see "L" on the LCD. The AF should be
a lot smoother and quieter now (tho slightly slower).

yes, it"s a wonderful little camera.
