In light of Alan Browne's thread, I thought I would post a few images from
my "Ugly" SI shoot.  Yes, this was a bit of a protest shoot, but a lesson
learned for me as well.  Anyway, feel free to comment (like I could stop
most of you). <g>

That America isn't so ugly after all.

I like the 2nd one best.  Reflection and not so much dead white sky.

Cheers,
Alan

Yes.  That's my favorite as well.

Thanks.  They weren't supposed to be.  My "protest" was of the mandate
itself.

My first comment when I saw the pictures submitted was that I was
disappointed (see my post).
Then, I realized that, although it is easy to come up with a shot that
meets the mandate, it is impossible to come up with a single shot covers
it completely. There is just too much ugliness these days, months,
years...The ugliness is always there, no matter what. And there is no
point in concentrating on it either.
I didn't submit a shot because I didn't find one that was striking
enough. I did find the Ken's "no guns" shot the most striking one among
the shots that filled the mandate.
Your shot is striking in another way though. It is striking because it
makes a statement. An optimistic statement.

Thank you.  That's what I was trying to convey.  One of my personal value
statements is that: " I would rather be optimistic and occasionally be
disappointed, then pessimistic and always be right."

I find it is easier to expect disappointment and be pleasantly surprised
when something goes right. :-)
