A bit of help is needed.  As a CONTAX collector I've taken a side road
down the Kiev 2 thru 5 lane and am now also interested in the Leica
copies too.

What I'm having trouble understanding is when the Felix Edmundovich
Dzerzhinsky Commune stopped production of the FED (Fedka) and the
Zorkie?

Is the Zorie (well original ones) just another name for the FED/Leica
copy or a separate line?  How can you tell the difference between a
Dzerzhinsky FED and a KMZ FED?

Cheers

There is a reseller from Calcutta selling Zenit SLR cameras here in
India.

My first SLR 20 years ago was a Zenit.
After 15 years of no use, the batteries inside it still work!

i have no experience with FEDs but
according to 1989's reference book
up to 90s KMZ produced
FED-50 / Industar-81 lens 38/2.8
FED-stereo / same lens
FED-micron / Helios-89 lens 30/1.9
FED-micron2 / same lens

KMZ products are known for their shitty quality
VERY unstable production according to later Zenit (1990s-2000s) products

there are also mentioned
FED-5 / Industar-61 lens 55/2.8
FED-5C & FED-5B modifications w/same lens
not sure were they KMZ or older

there also previous versions of FEDs
afaik FED-2 etc
those are undestructable relics
but watch out for front glass scratched to death
also good for surrealistic photographs with unpredictable results

Zorkie cameras was a whole different brand imho
production cancelled long before 80s
i have Zorkie-4 dusting somewhere in my house
tried to rediscover it but only found the empty box
box design looks like late 60s

all above data was taken from old soviet books
at 2 meter range from my computer
imho you can find endless data searching *.ru zone

price range in russia is from 10 up to 50 USD
