That cake is amazing.
The photo, not so much.

And the word is "edible", not "eatable", at least in most English
speaking nations- and, you can look that up in your Funk and Wagnalls! *

mmm.  My first thought was that the bottom one looks a bit like a
briefcase - it would go well with Doug's trademark filing cabinet
background shots..

Hints for professional wedding shooters:
1. The cake shot is one you have complete control over, so there are no
excuses!
2. Carefully arrange and completely include (or exclude!) items that
might be seen as related or decorative.  Eg flowers (or scrolls in
bottles) should never be cut off.
3. Give your subject room - don't let edges of the cake or its base
touch or go too close to the edges.
4. Avoid odd bits of colour that might distract, eg little bits of
bright blue at top right..
5. Make sure the cake/base is either straight, or deliberately angled.
It's just like a horizon - if it is a little off, it just looks odd and
unprofessional.
6. Don't just shoot from wherever you happen to hold the camera - look
at the cake design - would it look better from a lower or higher angle
of view?  In this case, I would have gone lower.

Its obvious that your only response to people who pick out your flaws is to
call them an idiot, but then those are your true colours after all :-)

Not at all. If someone with half an interest in the photograph and not a
bash up on me, passed comments I felt were valid, I'd respond in kind.
Your problem is even worse than the idiot's. You don't have a clue in
the first place. Not that he does either but he tries... Poor bugger.

he seems to know far more than you, and I can see that it gets right up your
nose :-)
As I have said in the past, I don't comment on subjects I don't know about
(you should try it some time) things like walking panos, you remember those,
you accused me of saying something I had never commented on, you even put me
in one of your little hate sites, you have also failed to return to that
thread and answer the criticism of your lies there just as you failed to
return to your pathetic attempt with that god awful abortion you tried to
pass of as a legitimate attempt at a walking pano, and even someone with my
admittedly small amount of photographic knowledge can see that it was a
hurriedly thrown together mish mash, that a year 4 class at a special school
could have bettered.
Now If you may have noticed, I haven't bothered to make comment on your
posts when they pertain to photography, but when you start with the personal
attacks and try and slip your lies into one of your trademark rants, I will
make comment, after all its only fair, as you have failed to acknowledge the
truth that I never made comment about Panos before your attack, also know
that telling a lie repeatedly does not make it the truth, so I will be
making sure everyone knows that, as I'm sure will Mark.
Here is a photo I'm sure you would love to share with us Douggie, how about
a photo of your new Audi, blur out the number plates if you like, but show
us how it is done, after all you criticized Mark for his DB5 photo, show us
how it is done :-) Oh and can you park it in the same spot (or near enough)
to where your old car was photographed, after all it would be a fair
comparison then :-)

Nice to see you addressing the content of the email and avoiding
personal attacks, as usual.  It is interesting that an idiot knows more
about wedding photography than you..

Are there any other wedding photog's here would like to comment on
Doug's picture, versus my comments?

Cheers, Doug.

Take the doll mate. At least you have the comprehension to pick a real flaw.

It's an improvement from your "filing cabinet" wedding cake shot.  The
cake itself is phenomenal.  I don't like the bride & groom though.
It's too cartoonish for my taste.

Simply stunning!  The cake is a bit cheesy, but I guess that goes with
geographical tastes.  The lighting is good and even without harsh details
the composition is spot on amazing.  Adding or leaving in some of the
background incidentals really makes this photo work.  My only negative
comment would be the crappy bride and groom characters.  They're just way
too animated and cheap looking.  If you want to see how these types of cakes
are done you might want to check this out.

Not to detract from the worth of the creator of your examples... Sam
Carter is one of Queensland's most popular and innovative wedding cake
decorators. She makes and supplies the intricate sugar accessories used
by many of her rivals.

Unlike many photographers, cake decorators tend to compete by turning a
bride's imagination into substance. Sam seems to be able to do this with
incredible regularity. She is also an advertiser in my planning for
weddings magazine: http://www.auspub.com.au/magazine/great-bris/P23.htm

If she is QLD's most popular wedding cake decorator why is the only
google result for her a link your page?

Not even Delightfully Decadent returns any results.
I would have thought the most popular wedding cake decorator in
Queensland would have at least won some awards.

Not much money in wedding cakes or another mediocre performer?

Dude, just wait till you see her masterpiece .... where the whole cake
looked like a big filing cabinet.  I believe the theme was "Married to
Work."
I think I've got a pic of it here somewhere.

How much do you want to bet on that Doggy, your mediocre earnings for
the next 12 months? and  must say I am honoured that you change
computers just to reply to me
