Here's a place where you dweebs can share in your geekiness.
Perhaps you will now stop polluting the actual photography-related
threads with your crap.

For the record, I use Google Groups and formerly used AOL.
That should get the ball rolling....

Actually it might be helpful for people to share the subject words and
e-mail addresses they use in their filters. I've been able to keep the
groups I regularly read pretty clean, and it doesn't require much effort
once you get the initial filters in place. There's the usual obscenity
filters, and the filters for sneakers, watches, etc. Sometimes it's not
enough just to kill file someone's e-mail address, but you need their
name in the subject words as well, because there will be a bunch of
posters thinking that they're doing someone a favor by attacking the
problem poster by name.

Even during the days of when rec.photo.digital was under attack I was
getting very little of the spam.

I hear a lot about spam in the groups but by using a news server who has
clear intentions about the hated spam... I never see any.

The only trade off (no loss really) is they don't carry region specific
groups like aus.photo. I have to use some "dual" server posting often
used by spammers or a second and third news server (thus different
user-names) if I want to post into the lion's den.

Funnily enough your D-Mac nic appears in aus.photo :-)

Even funnier...my ISP NOW only carries the "Big 8," yet with the magic
of an X-Post, this reply shows up in aus.photo.

That's how it's done right enough. Cross posting but no originating posts.

Can I discuss lame metric paper size standards here?

:-)
