Here's one from the vault, taken of course with the Fabulous EOS-1V:

Oh yeah, and since this is apparently now a FILM group I'd be remiss
in not mentioning the Fuji NPS 160 FILM that I used for that shot.  I
don't recall much about the various film formulations, but I think NPS
was supposed to be a good portrait film.

I'd like to make a project to scan at least one old negative or slide
per day.
That's about as large a workflow that the old Minolta SE5400 can
handle.
Man, is it slow, especially with the inappropriately named Silverfast
software.

I encourage anyone else to post their own old film shots as well.
And if anybody is still stuck in the dark ages and still using film,
then post some of your current stuff.

Final note for David Nebenzahl:  "Bite me!"

<Sigh...>  You guys *really* need to find a way to get yourselves over this...

Comparatively speaking digital is in the dark ages, just image what the next
50 years will bring.  Maybe they'll even get it to look like that film
stuff... :-)   OMG - I just realized how old I will be in 50 years. :-(

Just think what truly developed Foveon might look like if they got it out of
Sigma's hands.

I can't help but note that this isn't cross-posted to at least two other
groups??

Which two would you like?

Yeah too bad you flat lighted that charming gal and removed all the
great quality of that film.  Shame.

C'mon, I used to do a couple rolls a day (often with ICE) on my good
'ole 5400 at 4 passes per scan.  (Firewire my boy).  Great scanner and
after something on the order of 5000 slides/negs through it I got $500
cash for it.

Useless crap.  Use the native Minolta s/w for slides and optionally
VueScan for negatives.

Coming up on your nearest shoot-in.  Actually new and film ... but, gosh
it might be 56mm x 56mm.

That makes it nearly double qualified for the 35mm group, right?

Or 3.6X on a surface basis...

> Final note for David Nebenzahl:  "Bite me!"

He can bite you.  I think he may have a contagion.

Ah, heck, here's a 35mm scan from the vault.

http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6297372
Nikon 9000ED scanner; Sensia 100; Maxxum 9 with Maxxum 28-70 f/2.8;
available light; f/8 1/15.

But David can still bite Bret.

I always wondered where folks from Hawaii go for Holiday.

I don't have a vault. I got a dirty great big bank of WD 7000 RPM hard
drives in Raid 3 layout with 3 terabytes of storage in it.

Amongst all those pictures I found this one. I almost got a hard on
thinking about Bret when I looked at it.

How fitting if goes here in this thread:
http://www.d-mac.info/example1/film.htm ROTFL.

Totally off topic post too!

I used a 6x9 CM Fuji camera I bought for $650 at a cameraholics sale and
later sold for $1200 after taking this and many other memorable (plus a
few saleable) photos with it.

Ahhh Yes. The heady days of film and the uncertainty of it all. Did I or
did I not compensate for the highlights? Oh well we'll know in a week or
two! Scanned on some crappy POS I can't even remember brand but it was a
flat bed I can guarantee that much.

I don't doubt that. The only time your little willy gets aroused is
when you think about me.  In the future, try to keep me out of your
masturbatory fantasies.  I feel so dirty!  Oh well, if it keeps you
away from the little girls I'm happy to do my part.

I remember that pic as well.  It remains to this day one of the few
pics you've posted that I have commented favorably on. I'm sure that's
why you cherish it, my domination of your thoughts being so thorough.
I believe I said it was a "cool pic" or something to that effect.
Since then, of course, you have often tried to imply that you faked me
out with the fake lightning. As if.

Too bad you didn't use some photoslop to get rid of
the flat lighting...

If exposed properly and scanned on equipment of
minimal quality. Like anything else, there are
such things as use and mis-use...

That 'splains a lot. Had you stayed current and used
equipment from this millenium, you'd have noticed
a marked improvement.

Quite often.  You just have to look.

> Final note for David Nebenzahl:  "Bite me!"

Don't think that will help with the scan quality,
but knock yourself out!

Yeah, that one was taken with the old 550EX flash on camera so whatcha
gonna do?  Somebody told me that if I used an umbrella I'd get better
results, but that didn't work.  Maybe Misty wasn't holding it right.

LOL!
(you can use photoslop to get rid of umbrellas as well...)

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember Annika1980 <annika1980@aol.com>
saying something like:

>And if anybody is still stuck in the dark ages and still using film,

I use both; digital isn't everything, you know. I really do like
digital, but film still has a quality that is hard to achieve with
digital for some shots, which is why I keep a few film cams.

Of course, the fact that some very desireable film cams are now worth a
fraction of what they were has nothing to do with it.
