Large depth of field lens+processing system

I'm trying to remember the manufacturer for a recently announced
lens+algorithm combination that was able to produce a large depth of
field
from a single image.  The  idea was that the special lens produced an
image
with a lot of diffraction and/or aberration that essentially produced
equal blur
at all distances including the nominal focus point.  Then the imaging
processing algorithm reduced the blur equally at all distances
increasing
the effective depth of field beyond what would be expected for the
given
aperture and focal length.

Does anyone remember who that was?

Thanks,
Bob Kirkpatrick

Google for 'wavefront coding'

I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind. But check it out.
