I've sure gotten old!   I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip
replacement, new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes. I'm half
blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different
medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have
bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and
feet any more. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends.
But, thank God, I still have my driver's license.

I had to chuckle when I read this one because it reminded me of an incident
that occured shortly after I had been registered with the Canadian National
Institute for the Blind as being legally blind.

I was hitch-hiking back from Edmonton when a small truck pulled over and
picked me up.  The driver was an elderly gentleman who seemed normal enough,
and we enjoyed a bit of chit chat as we wound our way from the city out onto
the main highway that headed south.

Presently, the gentleman casually said to me, "Would you like to drive?"

I replied that I had just given up my driver's license because my sight no
longer met the minimum requirement for a license.

He said, "That's too bad.  My sight isn't very good any more, either.  I
picked you up hoping you could get me to Calgary...."

At the first available off-ramp, I said it was alright to let me out, and I
watched the news that night wondering if the guy would be featured...

Take Care,
Dudley

How puzzling.  It *looks* like it came from Douglas MacDonald...  But
thru aoie, you can't be sure.  Care to verify it via your 'real'
account, D-Mac?

Let's assume for a moment it is Doug - is this a plea for sympathy?  Or
just the final throes of a mind teetering on the brink?

Anyway, if it was posted by D-Mac, the important lines to note here are:

"I'm half blind"
That may explain some of the images..

"Have bouts with dementia"
Some one really needs to tell you, Doug, it's not 'bouts', it's
constant.  Which means you should really Google things rather than rely
on false memories...

"Have lost all my friends."
Well, there's a surprise.  You reap what you sow.

I've given my friends (I still have all mine!) and family strict
instructions that if I ever start going loopy I am to be committed, and
no computer access allowed...  (O:

So if/when I vanish suddenly.. you'll know what happened.  Trust me, it
won't be any of Doug's lame threats!
