The *real* problem with Bret's pano

It isn't the perspective flaws, cracks, shingles or anything
else like that.  It's that it's a picture of a f.cking brick
schoolhouse. "I'd rather see an ordinary picture of an interesting
subject than an outstanding image of a boring subject." Bret's
is neither an outstanding image or subject. Why even bother?

These are *worth* the effort, TS:

Plenty of non-schoolhouse examples out there. Today's lesson, Bret,
make it count, man, make it count!

Unfortunate but Brett can't take shots like that. He uses Photoshop for
his photography. The camera only supplies raw data for his computer.

That's the way of things, or so they say. They claim that all sexual
response is only in the brain. I guess that if that's true, a gorgeous,
sexy, willing and naked woman is only present during sex to supply raw
data to the brain. What a waste if that were true.

Although with people like D-Mac, sexual experience is invariably
imaginary, which is just as well as they don't have a willing source of
raw data available to them. They are colloquially known as "w.nkers",
but in polite society they are referred to as "compulsive masturbators"
or "wannabe wedding photographers".

Hey D-mac, another name change ? Why not show us some of your panos ?
That's right, you already did and they sucked ! Bret's still look better than
yours.

But are those LINEAR panoramas?  Don't think so.  Apples and
oranges.

While I can't speak for Bret, I got the impression that he was
attempting that (boring) subject just to test the
method/technique.  Very linear subject.  Along with others, I'm
keen to see the final results.  I'm viewing it more as a test
than a quality photo.

Unless /you/ could do better and post the results here, but then
you'd have to give away some of your "anonymity".

Well said Troy!  The subject was chosen for a complex procedure known
as a linear panorama.  I appreciate the fact that he is showing us in
steps how he is attempting this.  It's a learning process for me and a
lot of others as well and I thank Bret for taking the time and
patience to do this.
Perhaps this troll could curb his jealousy for a change.  He might
learn something.

Isn't this the problem with art in general?  What one person finds
interesting, others find boring?

For myself, I'm more of an action shot person, finding pastoral shots rather
bland, but my wife loves what I find unappealing.  Together, we've learned
to try and find something interesting in each others images.

It just goes to show that you can't please everyone...

Take Care,
dudley

I totally agree with you Dudley, critiques help us to grow to be
better photographers and I encourage them.  But in this case we are
not dealing with critiques from an honest person.  It's just another
sockpuppet shooting down anything that is Bret's.

That was a great example of someone elses's work but why not show us all a
sample of YOUR work !   Those are also LINEAR panos and that was not what Bret
was attempting.
