Having passed up the early spring rebate on the 5D hoping for a new updated
model, I'm now wondering when we may see a newer version.  The current
version has quite a bit of age on it, and new models are arriving that
update other DSLRs in the Canon lineup.

Of course, no one really knows, but I'd be happy to hear speculation.

I just talked to Canon and they said they are waiting on you to order
a 5D.
So hurry up and make that call !

There will always be something better just over the horizon.
If you are convinced you have to have what the 5d has to offer at its
considerable price premium, and I personally have no idea what that is, it
is time to make a decision.

My speculation is that Canon will improve resolution, but only slightly (I'd
guess about 16MP), will upgrade to a single Digic III engine, *might*
increase burst speed and buffer size, sensor dust reduction, better sealing,
and improved AF. None of these will get me to spring for an upgrade.

Dual proc is the only way to go!  I love my dual Xeons and now my dual Digic
IIIs.  Only problem I have right now is Donkey Kong doesn't support SMP with
Digic III.  Time to write an emulator.

Add Live View as well (nice for macro photography).
I would like also to see a much lower price... maybe 1500 Eurodollars (I can
dream, can't I?)

Cheers,

Dreaming is one thing.  Until you actually try Canon's version of live view
you will be grasping at unrealistic expectations.  The live view on the Mk
III is OK, but I wouldn't get overly excited about it.
