It was such a beautiful summer morning that I had to go out to the old
garden to pick the veggies for the day.  I usually don't have a thong, but
something told me to bring one.  I'm so glad I did.

I love the beautiful blue color of the flower Rita.
But be very careful of these ticks.  They carry a bacterial infection
called Lyme Disease.  My neighbour had it and it can be extremely
dangerous.

Thanks.  Yes, I'm very careful of these nasty devils.  I have to check the
pup after each hike.  He's been lucky this year and had no hitchhikers.

Deer ticks do carry Lyme's disease...but the tick in the photo was a dog
tick.

You're partial to AIS lenses it appears.

It just works really well.  I gotta get me one of those fancy MPE-65s like
Bret has.  Other irons in the fire first.

I've got a few pretty good macro shots of deer ticks.
Focusing with the MP-E is the easy part.
The hard part is sneaking up on the friggin deer.

I hear ya!  Really the only defense deer have is speed.  This is why
they spook so easy.  I adore deer but I'm serious about those ticks.
They carry a very dangerous bacteria.  Be careful.

Congrats.

Great colors Rita. Beautiful flower. Nasty critter. Never let one of
those to get that close to me before I squashed 'em. Neat markings and
colors, though. Ugh, squash!
Deer ticks, dog ticks. Don't matter both can and do carry the Lyme
disease. Not a very nice disease.

Draco

Getting even isn't good enough.

Doing better...does.

See also "Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever" - another tick-borne disease
here in North America.

Lyme disease often takes years after infection for symptoms to manifest.
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever takes about 10 days and it's NOT pleasant.

Not in my neighbor's case.  It took only a few weeks before symptoms
started.  I guess it varies from person to person.
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever can be deadly I hear.
