Unsharp maks... note the staircase in the middle, back petal. This is
apparent in the RAW file as well. See last linked image [W/O sharpening])

and that's on a 6 Mpix camera. If Sony does a 12+ Mpix camera ...
(Note: focusing this thing is a challenge).
Is this lens *too* sharp for a 6 mpix?

The issue appears to be the angle (45 degrees) not the sharpness of
the lens. Get out some sharp edges and shoot them at various angles to
confirm.

I've never seen this with another lens, including the razor sharp 100
f/2.8 ...

Didn't notice that the RAW import sharpening was on; I usually have it
at 0 to save sharpening for a last step before saving/printing.
So there is no -over sharp- issue ... how could there be?
Cheers,
Alan.

Various reasons, anyway problem fixed ... sharpening in CS3 RAW import.
Turn it to "0" and the problem is solved. Image is this one:
http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6195464&size=lg (which is
about 35% of the original shot).
http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6198220&size=lg is a nicer
photo...
