What does it take to be a great nature photographer?

A long lens is a must, but the nature photographer must also possess
the patience to wait for the perfect moment, and the timing to capture
the fleeting mement in time.

Yes, experience is a key factor as well and I've had lotsa practice.
Imagine how awesome that pic would've been with the 1D3 and the 500 f/
4.  The next pic in the sequence shows the poo squirting in the air,
but I thought it was a little too disgusting to post.  With the 1D3
and the 500 f/4, I could've probably focus-tracked the poo all the way
to the ground.

The moral of the story is to never park your ride under a tall pine
with a hawk's nest in it.
