approx 5000 frames scanned (or about $0.14 per frame).

I would say you got your moneys worth out of it.

How is the new scanner doing?

Fine.  I've only scanned one image to date (no time, been traveling).
(This image: http://www.pbase.com/shootin/image/71244103 )

I had it printed at 24" x 24" (Got it back today).  I'm not happy with
the printed colors (issue between me and the lab on their ICC profile).
 Working it with their tech...

I probably need to buy the glass holder as the slide used was pretty
curled which certainly did not help the focus.

Cheers,
Alan

Put your name on a waiting list now.  Nikon is very hit-and-miss with
this particular accessory.  I was on a waiting list at B&H for
something like 6-8 months before they got re-stocked.  I did get mine,
but they were out of stock literally within a few days afterward.

I know.  It is part of the reason I never ordered the scanner from B&H
esp. back when the price diff (Canada v. US) was really high and the B&H
price was lower than it is today.

Now I've bought the scanner ... but I'll have to wait for the glass
holder.  Not sure if I want to go on a waiting list.  I'll let this
fester a bit, probably order it via a local store and irritate them...

I wasn't pitching B&H specifically, of course.  I don't have to deal
with the foreign exchange rate.  I found it was out-of-stock everywhere
I checked.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't used it, yet.  :-)  I've used
the scanner, just haven't gotten around to doing and MF scanning
lately.  Still, I'm glad I got it.  I didn't like struggling with the
non-glass version at all.

I've done business, hapilly, with them many times in the past and this
was the only time I've had enduring problems with them in a short stock
situation.  Frustrating.

Are you kidding?!?  These things are rare, hard-to-find, and very much
sought after.  I'd have to charge a premium.  ;-)

Ah come on, it's Christmas, think how warm and fuzzy it will make you feel!

Merry Christmas,

Did you manage to negoatiate visitation privledges?

:-)  I recently sold my Nikon 9000, and while I didn't calculate the cost
per scan, I definitely got my money's worth out of it. Any scanning I do now
is very sporadic, so it was gathering dust.

I recently bought the 9000 ED and have to date scanned one image...  It
is unlikley that I will ever scan over 2000 MF frames with it (to bring
it near $1 per scan), but there are still lots of 35mm frames to scan as
well...

How much did you get for the 9000?

Cheers,
Alan

I got about 80% of what I paid; around $1500 (US) back. I'd consider it a
success...
