Canon has unveiled it's new Super-Telephoto lens mount for use with the
Super-Secret 7D which will be announced at Photokina '07.  In my
preliminary testing (I get all the good stuff first) I found it to be
very stable, although Canon will still need to iron out a few kinks
with the adaptor ring.
