OK sports fans, here's a fun little rollover I made with two pics taken
from the same spot, 60 years apart. Roll your mouse over the photo to
see how Moccasin Bend looked from Lookout Mountain in 1946.

Neat! - Did all those farmers in the foreground go out of business, or what?

Yeah, I thought that, too.  Farms reverted to bush.  And what's the two
orange dots in the foreground bush?  Not stuck pixels, I hope?

The two orange dots are just marine markers on the river bank.
As for the farms, they all sold out.  The state bought the land at the
tip of the peninsula where the state mental hospital is currently
located.  In the middle now rests a golf course and a water sewage
treatment plant.

Nice job Bret. You can also see the high power
lines right behind the marine markers. But what
was that in the background in the 1946 image
back near the far ridge? It looked like a large
building or a stripmine.

Keep shooting, Bret. You are in a beautiful area
of the country and you show some of the best it
has to offer.

Well, if it was here in Oregon, it might very well be Christmas tree farms,
but in Tennessee? More likely it was a change in the government farm subsidy
program rules.....:^)

It certainly is a beautiful piece of the country.  I wonder too what
happened to the farmland.  Very cool how you did that.
