Hi all

My girlfriend's dad has broken a wind-arm on his Nikon FG20 SLR and has
asked me if i can find out what a new body would cost and what upgrade from
the FG20 would be good.  I have seen these bodies sell for around £40 on
ebay but there are many other models too.

He has many lenses for it so anything compatible and similar would be good.

Thanks for any advice.

How about an FG?

"[the FG-20] takes all the accessories designed for the Nikon super
compact models. I heard many Nikon fans relate it as "... an EM with
auto flash feature" or "A FG without programmed mode...". Yes, the FG-20
is a member of the same family as the earlier EM and FG. It was the
easily rated as the lightest, most compact 35mm Nikon SLR. It is lighter
in weight than Nikon FG by 50g and EM by 20g. In terms of features, it
stays mid between what the EM and the FG can offer."

The straight FG is a no-brainer, as it's the camera the FG-20
"devolved" from. Also keep an eye out for the FA. It will be familiar,
as it's based on the same body shell - but it's much more capable.
