i have a minolta maxxum 5000 and whenever i would look in my viewfinder
to see the shutter speed, there is something blocking it. any ideas why?

big - HUH?

What do you mean "...to see the shutter"? If you are looking in the
viewfinder as you press the exposure button, the mirror inside the
camera that shows you the image - that mirror flips up so as not to
block the film and then the shutter opens so that light can expose the
film - you'll never be able to see the shutter - unless you look into
the lens as an exposure is made.

I have no idea exactly what you mean but is it possible that there is an
electronic display of the exposure in the viewfinder and perhaps that is broken?

See my second post of yesterday.

Is there something IN FRONT of the display or is the display not working
properly.

Oh - hope it's still under warranty - there's something wrong with the
internal display screen - need to take that in and get it fixed.

sorry - didn't see the post - under warranty - probably nothing - if
not under warranty and it is a known recurring issue with the model,
they probably have a procedure for the fix that shouldn't cost much -
other than that - dunno
