I need a new flash for my Canon T70. I am having trouble getting the
Canon one (277T). Which others could I use? Thanks!

I'm using a 420EX on my T90 which is fine except for one major and two minor
issues:-

1. The zoom head does not work. It relies on the EOS zoom lenses indicating
what their focal length is and zooming internally to match. Obviously the FD
lenses cannot do this and the modern flashes to not provide an override. A
button would have been useful FFS!.

2. High speed flash sync is only available on EOS cameras. I don't know why
this is, technically, but I suspect that it is just that the feature wasn't
available outside the Olympus OM-4 when these cameras were new, so they just
will not sync at anything faster than 1/250th (T90).

3. Second Curtain Sync is only available via a menu on an EOS which obviously
isn't available on a T90, T70, etc.

Get a Canon T-90 Speedlite 300TL has too many modes too....although
some features obviously don't work with the T-70

Get a Canon T-90 Speedlite 300TL has a Second Curtain Sync plus
program.

    I have both T90, T70 backup.

I would highly recommend a non-dedicated flash, such as the Sunpak
383.  It's about $80, gives you longer reach than the dedicated units,
is almost as easy to use, and gives you more flexibility.

It's much cheaper than a Speedlite Canon T-90 300TL for all the
features that would NOT be transfered to a Canon T-70...
