Velvia 50 May Return!
There may be some light at the end of the tunnel for photographers who
rely on Velvia 50. A press release from Fuji UK promises a spring 2007
reintroduction of this famous film.
Many photographers who used Velvia 50 were disappointed with the
results from the new Velvia 100. Velvia 100 is a very different film
than Velvia 50, offering less exposure latitude and different color
characteristics.
Despite the prevalence of dSLRs, many fine-art and landscape
photographers continue to use film with medium and large format
cameras, due to their superior resolution and flexibility. The return
of Velvia 50 would be welcome news for film photographers.

Very good news indeed! Thanks for the heads-up.

Hello 1990!!! Do I hear Fujichrome 50 anybody? - that had one of the
brightest/saturated loveliest pallets of any slow film... Could the
re-introduction of Kodak's Ektar/Royal Gold 25 be next??? (Hello
1989!!!) :-) I'd settle for Kodachrome 100 ;-) Heck, I'd even "settle
for" the original Elite 100 -Yum!!!

Heck, I'm much easier to please. I'd be thrilled with Supra 100 or
Impressa 50.

Is that the Agfa? I recently shot and developed some 25 ISO bnw agfa,
and it's awesome, but discontinued. Bummer, that!

Supra was Kodak and Impressa was Konica.
Currently I shoot Agfa Optima, and Agfa Ultra. Sadly, those have also
been discontinued. This time I was ready (somewhat).... I have 50
rolls of Agfa in the freezer.

Yes, bring back Supra 100 (I never used Impressa).
However, Fuji 160S seems to work very well.

That was it. Done. The faulty Monk was turned out into the desert where it
could believe what it liked, including the idea that it had been hard done
by. It was allowed to keep its horse, since horses were so cheap to make.

Boy, that'd be a kick! I *loved* that stuff!
I even have a big display-size box, just as a memento.

That's nice. Although I'm very satisfied with Velvia 100 and 100F.
Shot several rolls this summer (120 format). Colors are rich and
vibrant and I doubt that anyone could tell the difference between 100
and 50 by just looking at the slides on a light table.
I still have half a dozen Velvia 50 in 135 and a couple in 120 in the
freezer...
Cheers,
Alan

Velveeta returns? The impossibly overrich Velveeta returns? Amazing. I
am using my last frozen roll. I would hate to have to use plain
American cheese.
