Hello,
I recently repaired my Minolta XD7 (my first SLR). I had the film
chamber foam replaced, the baseplate screwed back on (one side fell off
one day 4 years ago), and general CLA done. It now works fine,
mechanically at least. Strange how emotionally attached one can get to
a camera.
When I last used it (around 2002, I think), I was using an external
meter because the lightmeter was off by a couple of stops. The guy who
did the repairs said he couldn't do anything about it (I imagine this
means there is no adjustment control easily available), and I didn't
insist as I basically paid nothing for it. However, I now have no
external meter (I do have a Nikon D200 which can act as a spotmeter!).
The question is as follows: Has anybody had such a meter problem
repaired for this camera (it's XD11 in the US, I think)? How much did
it cost?
I am asking because I have completely switched to digital (Nikon), but
have gotten myself quite excited about revisiting Velvia etc now (must
dig out my projector, too).
Thanks.

I have one of these which I had overhauled a few years ago and it works
fine-I rarely use it now but also have a sentimental attachment to it. In
general meters can be difficult/impossible to repair because the electronic
parts are not available unless salvaged from another camera. It is often
more cost effective to replace the camera with one from a reputable used
dealer that offers a limited warranty.

Thanks. Well, the meter seems to be consistently 1 stop off, so easy
enough to compensate for. Now to shoot the roll of velvia I have...
