Greetings,

This is a question to garner opinions from 35mm camera savvy folks
about the "sellability" of a Nikon N75 camera body (body only) that I
have...

The camera had been used 1-2 times by a friend of my wife's.  She
wanted her own 35mm SLR (we have a nice Canon EOS 2000, but she
considers it "mine" rather than hers...)  In any event, she purchased
the camera from her friend, along with the standard 28-80 Nikkor lens
that comes with the kit.  The camera is in excellent physical shape,
but it turns out the body is defective in that it will NOT autofocus.
We took it to a local camera shop, and tried it with other Nikkon
lenses and alas, it just will not autofocus.  It takes great photos
with the manual focus (MF), but it just won't autofocus...

The repair bill would have been so high that I felt just getting her a
new camera would be preferable, so I bought a Nikon N95 body and she
will use the lens from the old camera with it.  So she's set up
now...and I have a Nikon N75 camera body that is defective only
inasmuch as it will not autofocus.

My options were to keep it as a backup body, but since I'm a Canon
user, it doesn't make sense since I don't have a lens for this
"backup".  I am considering selling it on eBay, and of course I'll make
it abundantly clear on my auction that it has a defective Autofocus
feature, etc.

Do you guys think this camera body is "sellable"?  Please respond here,
or if you'd be able, please email me at dlcasey at email dot com with
your opinions.  Thanks for your time...and sorry if I was too verbose
;~}

Of course, if anyone is interested in purchasing the item, we can also
talk about that too!

Thanks again,

DLC

PS by the way, the hotmail.com email above (in the header) won't
work...it's been deleted, so use the dlcasey @ email dot com one
instead.

It is probably sellable as long as you're honest about it...I would put the
problem in the header so that it'd attract someone looking for a bargain
body who doesn't mind the non-autofocusing nature of your N75.

The bottom has fallen out of the market for a camera like this,
even in working shape.  For an N75 which doesn't autofocus, I would
guess that you might get $15-$25.

In that case, if you would like to donate it someone who is disabled and
not working, but would give it a good home, please email me. The same for
any no longer used photographic stuff, such as bulk loaders, reloadable
cassettes, cameras working or not, etc.

Geoff.
