"File Error" in digital camera with third party memory cards/sticks?

Hello!

Does anyone know why this new Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 (7.2 megapixels)
camera sometimes shows a blue screen with white "File Error" message?
This only happens with two new SanDisk Ultra II MagicGate Pro Duo 2 GB
memory sticks. The default Sony memory card/stick that came with the
camera didn't show this error. Is there a defect or something in Spain
with this brand and model?

Thank you in advance. :)

Try formatting the SanDisk Ultra II MagicGate Pro Duo 2 GB  in the camera.

One thing. Since format will erase everything on the memory stick/card,
how do I put the copied image files on the PC back? And yes, I want them
back.

Do you have a card reader?
If not go buy one, they only cost about $10,
Put the memory card in the reader and copy all of the files to the PC.

Or if you mean to copy files from the computer to the memory card, you can
do that with a card reader also.

After you have copied what files you can, then format the card in the
camera.

Never ever format a camera card on the computer, the computer uses a
different format that camera often can not read.

The computer has no problem reading the camera's format.

I can read the memory card via W2K's Windows Explorer. It has JPEG and
other files like DCIM. Can I just copy everything to PC and back after
format?

You should be able to. The only thing that may stop the copy is a corrupt
file.
