Olympus loosing date/time when changing batteries

My Olympus C-750 is loosing the date/time when I change batteries, even if
it the batteries are out for only 5 seconds.

I can't find instructions on replacing the battery or capacitor that is
supposed to hold that information during the no-battery time.

Any help appreciated.

You must be sure that the camera is fully turned off before removing the
batteries.

And you should put in a second set of batteries while charging the first
set.

If the batteries in the camera are fully discharged, the camera will not
retain the memory, the capacitor in the camera must have the voltage before
you remove the battery. So if the batteries are already dead, then no charge
for the capacitor.

If the camera is left for about 1 hour with the batteries removed, some of
the internal settings may revert to the factory default settings.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I do use a second set of batteries - the camera is without power for only
10-15 seconds while I swap them out.  Trying to figure out how to charge up
or replace the capacitor so it holds the day/date and other settings during
the battery change.

Even with this short period without batteries, all the settings revert to
the factory defaults.

This indicates that the camera should be sent in for service. You may or may
not get Oly to provide the repair under an extended warrenty, due to the
type of failure, and the large number of defective capacitors from the
capacitor mfr.
