I want to attempt to play back a custom made MPG file on my Sony camera but
I've hit a snag that appears to be thwarting my efforts. I've read in many
places to be able to playback your own MPG files on Sony products (aimed
primarily at PSPs) your file needs to be encoded to either MPG 1 or 2 -
confirmation please?! Also that the .THM filename (really just a 160x120 JPG
file) needs to be named exactly the same as the filename of the MPG.

When I have done all of this, my Sony P100 exclaims Error reading file! and
refuses to recognise the file (the other data on the card is read as normal
though).

Any clues how to get the custom MPGs to playback on the camera?

Thanks for any useful comments.

Take an mpg with your camera.  DL to your PC.  Check the framesize, encoding
format, bitrate, all of these settings.  Just saying MPEG 1 or 2 really
doesn't tell you anything about the format the camera wants to see.

But does this camera only read the precise format it creates? If so - I'll
abandon my plans because the particular encoder on this camera is rather
expensive to purchase!
